You’re engaged - CONGRATULATIONS!
You’re going to be walking about on Cloud 9 for several weeks that’s for sure - been there done that! Once you have come back down to planet Earth how are you going to celebrate? Dinner for 2 somewhere nice will be a cert I hope but will you go for a short break somewhere or perhaps have an engagement party? I’ve got an alternative idea for you - why not book an engagement photography session?! Just the two of you spending 60-90 minutes quality time together somewhere special with a photographer there shooting some images of you. Here is my take on why you definitely have to book an engagement session!
1) Capture the Memories
Those memories are worth capturing forever right? Listen I know we are all fortunate to have camera phones these days and since getting engaged you’ve probably took more selfies than ever together but I’m not talking about more than selfies. I’m talking about high quality images that bottle up the buzz that you are currently feeling forever. Images for you to look back on when you are 2 kids later like Leanne & I and can count on the fingers of one hand the amount of proper nights sleep you’ve had in the past 4 years! Images that you can look back on in 30 years time to remember that night you spent somewhere special creating memories together. Your future self is shouting JUST DO IT right about now!
2) Banish the Awkwardness
Are you worried about being awkward in front of the camera on your wedding day? If i earned a pound for every time a couple had told me that they were worried about being awkward in their wedding day pictures I would be a very rich man! Luckily my style of documentary photography is one that is the perfect fit for those that aren’t all that used to cameras. I focus on all real moments, all real emotions, all real love. Anything fussy or awkward is for sure banned! If a little help is required I’ve plenty of tricks up my sleeve to help couples get settled too. Get one booked now, blow those pre wedding photo nerves away and your wedding pictures will be even better!
3) Connect with Your Photographer
It’s the perfect opportunity to connect with your photographer with a view to using it as a practice run before your wedding! You’ll get an insight as to how they work plus you’ll learn a lot more about them both professionally/personally too and vice versa. I love having a really good chat with my couples on engagement shoots, digging a bit deeper in to their story as on wedding days that opportunity just isn’t there. I’ve also booked some many weddings off the back of connecting with couples on engagement shoots who had yet to book me for their wedding. I’ve even been fortunate enough to book a wedding in Chicago next year on the back of an engagement session with an awesome couple who were holidaying in Ireland last summer. Have you seen an awesome local photographer online whom you’d love to meet to see if you hit it off? Get booked in with them and see where it leads you!
4) You’ll get Images that can be used for Your Wedding
It’s a great opportunity to get high quality images that can be used at your wedding! Whether it be your save the date cards, invitations, room decor, table plans or perhaps even a signing book/signing frame the options are endless!
5) Explore Somewhere New
It’s a great excuse to explore somewhere new! Before starting my wedding photography business in Northern Ireland I would have considered myself as being someone who had seen a fair bit of what our country has to offer. How wrong I was! Most of us will have had a trip to Portstewart/Portrush but what about Portmuck, the Dark Hedges or Kinbane Castle. Have you explored all of Northern Ireland’s treasures? I’ve experienced many hidden gems during engagement sessions. If you book a shoot with me and ask me to suggest somewhere off the beaten track I guarantee I’ll have a few ideas up my sleeve!
